Professional Veterinary Dental Cleaning

Professional dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia with IV fluids for your pet’s safety and to allow a thorough evaluation and cleaning of the teeth. Each cleaning includes dental X-rays, ultrasonic scaling to remove plaque and tartar, polishing to smooth tooth surfaces, and evaluation of the teeth and surrounding oral structures.

Additional services and costs may apply for pre-anesthetic bloodwork, tooth extractions, and medications administered during the procedure or dispensed for home use, depending on your pet’s individual needs and oral health findings.

All pets must be current on their applicable core vaccinations before undergoing a dental cleaning with Hunt PRN Veterinary Services:

Additional Dental Treatments

Factors That May Increase the Cost of Your Pet’s Dental

The initial estimate is based on the amount of visible tartar present. Additional costs may apply depending on your pet’s oral health and medical needs, including:

  • Pre-anesthetic bloodwork: Helps assess your pet’s health and suitability for anesthesia.

  • Tooth extractions: Broken, infected, loose, or otherwise diseased teeth may require removal. Costs vary depending on the number and complexity of extractions.

  • Medications administered or to go home: Additional medications, such as anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs), pain medications, and antibiotics when indicated, may be administered or prescribed based on your pet’s needs.

Final costs will depend on findings during the dental procedure. If significant additional treatment is needed beyond your individual estimate, we will discuss the findings and associated costs with you whenever feasible before proceeding.

How to Get a Dental Estimate

Before scheduling your pet’s professional dental cleaning, we’ll need to evaluate their mouth and provide an initial estimate based on the visible tartar and dental concerns.

You have two options:

Option 1: Schedule a Dental Estimate Exam
Schedule an exam directly at Hunt PRN’s Dental Clinic for $35. We’ll examine your pet’s mouth, discuss recommended services, and provide an initial dental estimate. Blood work can be performed at this time. Once you have a dental estimate, we can schedule your pet's cleaning.

Option 2: Get a FREE Dental Estimate at our Vaccine Clinics
Attend one of our scheduled vaccine clinics and receive any service that includes a brief veterinary exam. During that visit, we can evaluate your pet’s mouth and provide an initial dental estimate at no additional charge beyond the service you choose. Blood work can also be performed at this time.

Please note: Dental estimates are based on the initial examination and visible findings. Dental X-rays taken under anesthesia may reveal additional disease or damaged teeth that require treatment, which can increase the final cost.
